Kids In Distress Swept Away or Pulled to Safety?
A Child's Future Is In Your Hands.

    Dear Friend:

As the holidays approach, we at Stabinski and Funt are always looking for ways to give back to the community and to help those in need. This year we would like to make an appeal to our clients, business colleagues, and friends to help assist another one of our clients, Kids in Distress. Kids In Distress is a nationally accredited agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, the preservation of the family and the care and treatment of abused and neglected children. We recently had the pleasure of working together with attorney Elliot Borkson on a matter for Kids in Distress. Elliot is a member of the board of directors at Kids in Distress and a long-time dedicated supporter of the organization.

Unfortunately with the devastation from Hurricane Wilma and other struggles they have endured this past year, Kids in Distress needs your help to reassure the children so they will feel safe after the storm. They need you to go the extra mile this holiday season on their behalf and to send financial support if you possibly can.

(Please click here http://www.kidsindistress.org/donations.asp to make your contribution.)

Kids In Distress is a very large family. They have over 450 children in their care and thousands more in their clinic and community prevention program. In the aftermath of the storm, they had to purchase huge quantities of clean water, cope with food spoilage, bring in hot meals for the children twice a day, purchase new generators and diesel fuel, restock diapers, formula and other baby items, replenish food supplies, repair roofs, fencing and carpets. And much more.

With the help you will send, they will better be able to cope with all of these things. The child in distress who is the object of your compassion has already experienced storms of rage you and I can scarcely imagine. The roof-tearing, lights-extinguishing, howling winds of Hurricane Wilma that sent them crying under their beds or into the arms of their counselors are just echoes of the horrific storms that brought them to Kids in Distress in the first place.

(Please click here http://www.kidsindistress.org/donations.asp to make your contribution.)

Kids In Distress is making a year-end appeal to the community to meet the needs of the children they assist. Please help our client, Kids in Distress, by donating whatever you can during this time of extreme need.

P.S. Kids in Distress also has a Holiday Wish List for specific needs for the organization. If you would prefer to donate specific items, please click here.

    “Adopt-a-Family” This Holiday Season

Looking for another way to help out this holiday season? Kids In Distress has a wonderful program where you can “Adopt-a-Family.”

In this very worthy program, children whose families cannot afford to buy them holiday gifts write a “wish list” that they submit to their case workers. The case worker then submits the list to Kids in Distress, who tries to find a donor to “adopt” the family. The donor buys gifts for the children from the wish list, and arranges to have the gifts delivered to them.

Members of our firm have personally participated in this program by adopting families. Such a small commitment in time and money can go such a long way in making a child's holiday season happier. "I have even gotten my own children involved in the process of selecting and delivering the gifts to teach them the values of giving and charity,” expressed partner Daren Stabinski.

If you would be interested in getting involved in the “Adopt-a-Family” program this year (there are still 25 families that need to be “adopted”), please contact Judith Pelaez at Kids in Distress. Please get in touch with her soon, as the holidays are rapidly approaching.
